Microdermal anchors were first created in around 2006 and have been growing in popularity ever since. Now, more and more piercers are starting to offer them with many different installation techniques. In my experience, having done them via multiple installation methods, punch & taper is by far the most practical method to use when working with jewellery of this design.

After a few years of doing microdermals for others (and having two self-done on my forehead), I began growing tired of explaining the jewellery design and installation techniques to random strangers in transit or on the street. That is when my wife and I created our side project: “Cult Fiend Clothing”.

We decided to design a shirt that explains the process of the punch & taper technique in conjunction with a diagram portraying the procedure and design of a microdermal anchor. We gave this particular shirt kind of a techie look and feel, with my logo on the back. Our second design was a simple suspension shirt with a small logo on the front and four vertically placed suspension hooks in the upper back (mimicking a vertical “suicide” suspension).
