Solar Branding Update
Have you ever heard of "solar branding"? I hadn't until my last trip to Las Vegas, NV in June 2011, where a group of friends happened to be experimenting with it. The idea seemed interesting, so I decided to have a look at what was being done. The work was being done by Andrew Stanton, a performer from "Swingshift Sideshow".
I watched Andrew do a couple before I stepped up to the plate, then I decided to burn my logo into my right temple. I had my friend Wayde stencil on the design for me, then we went out to find some intense direct sunlight to utilize. The whole thing only took a few minutes, but it sure was intense! We ended up with a group of about 9 of us being branded that day. It was an awesome experience to share with everyone which I'll remember forever.
I have been aspiring to start practicing this form of branding, however sun can be hard to come by in Vancouver, BC. In the winter sunshine is generally non-existant. If there is any, it's not enough to pull something like this off. Eventually it'll be in the cards!
Looking back on the photo now, my horns seemed really small! I was at 2nd I plan to go up to 4th gen at some point in the summer of 2012.That may be my final destination for my horns, as I need to be able to wear a helmet for motorcycles, longboarding and biking. It'll become more and more difficult fitting into these things if my horns get much larger. Here's a short video taken by my friend Lexci during my branding procedure. Enjoy!
