Body Suspension - Safety Before Show

There has been a tragedy in the body suspension community. A performer fell from 12 feet and broke his leg in front of thousands of people as well as the media at the Deerfield Beach tattoo convention. Please send positive thoughts out to Jimmy Pinango for a quick and healthy recovery from the accident.

The article and video interview from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel can be found here. Joe Amato's Myspace blog post about the equipment failure can be found here.

This should be a lesson to all that safety is always paramount. Do not attempt dangerous acts like this without covering all of your bases and knowing your rigging.

As Rachel said, "With the recent suspension accident, there is a spotlight on our community. We need to band together and protect ourselves from people who would take advantage of the community or try to portray us in a negative light."

It's up to all of us to work together and keep safety first, especially when under the microscope by the media!
